Accomplishments

Building Human Capacity for Care and Treatment.

• Developed 7 accredited curriculum standardizing care and treatment training modules.
• Trained 5784 health workers via didatic and interactive clasroom training and on-the-job mentoring for providing comprehensive HIV/AIDS management to clients.
• Continually supports health care workers post-training via telephone clinical consultation and on site - mentoring.

Improving Systems of Care

• Trained and enabled ARV accreditation of 36 hospitals, 9 CHC, and one correctional services department.
• Developed optimal care models for care and treatment, home-based care, and wellness.
• Developed/tested an NGO- based model to manage and support comunityhealth workers.

Technical Assistance  (TA) to the Eastern Cape Department of Health(ECDOH)

• Development of the Provincial ARV information system standardized AR, Pre-ART, registers and an electronic database.
• Provide consultation to the Eastern Cape AIDS Council.
• Provide on-going TA to ECDOH district managers, training coordinators, and trainers and HAST teams.
• Developed and pilot tested and operational guide to providing PMTCT care/treatment.
